Frédéric Gagey was born in 1956 in Vesoul, France. He studied at the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique (National College for Statistics and Economic Administration), and received a master's degree from the University of Paris 1.

Mr. Gagey began his career in France at the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies and the French Ministry of Finance. From September 1994 to April 1997, he served as Vice President of Budget & Control for the French domestic airline Air Inter. Following the merger of Air Inter and Air France, Mr. Gagey was appointed Vice President of Privatization & Financial Communication at Air France. In June of 1999, he was promoted to Vice President of Finance at Air France.

Frédéric Gagey joined KLM's statutory managing directors on January 1, 2005, where he serves as Chief Financial Officer. Furthermore, Mr. Gagey is a member of the Supervisory Board at Connexxion Holding nv.
