Drs. ing. P.F. Hartman, Short biography

Peter Frans Hartman was born in Curaçao in 1949.
After completing high school (HBS-B science) in 1967, he studied mechanical engineering at the Amsterdam Institute of Technology (HTS) and business economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

He joined KLM on 29 October 1973 as a labour analyst at the controllers department within Engineering & Maintenance (E&M). In 1975, he was appointed third-party work controller at E&M. In subsequent years, he held various controller positions at home and abroad.

In 1984, Mr Hartman was appointed Head of Technical Contract Services and, in 1987, Project Manager Schiphol 2000.
On 1 January 1989, he was appointed Head of Station Services. In this capacity, he carried responsibility for the processes at Schiphol and all other stations in KLM’s route network.
On 1 October 1990, he was appointed Head of Customer Services. In April 1994, he was then appointed Head of Personnel & Organisation.

Mr Hartman was appointed Head of Engineering & Maintenance on 1 January 1996 and, on 6 August 1997, he was appointed Managing Director of KLM NV. Mr Hartman also served as deputy KLM President & CEO before becoming KLM’s President & CEO with effect from 1 April 2007.

-  the Recommendation Committee of the Royal Netherlands Navy Marines Band;
-  Holland Aviation House Recommendation Committee;
-  the Industria Congres Recommendation Committee;
-  the Hoogvliegers Foundation Recommendation Committee;
-  the National Management Science Congress (Landelijk Congres der Bestuurskunde, LCB) Recommendation Committee;
-  the Sustainable Aviation Platform (Platform Duurzame Luchtvaart, PDL) Recommendation Committee;
-  the IBFA Advisory Board;
-  the WNF Fundraising Committee;
-  the Advisory Board of the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.
