KLM Cancels Flights KL877 and KL878 to Bangkok
Amstelveen – Wednesday, 26 November 2008
The Thai authorities have temporarily closed Bangkok International Airport Suvarnabhumi to air traffic. In view of the unstable and unsafe situation at and around the airport, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines decided to cancel flight KL877 from Amsterdam to Bangkok and Taipei, scheduled to depart on Wednesday, November 26, at 20.35. The return flight, KL878, from Taipei via Bangkok to Amsterdam is therefore also canceled.
On Tuesday, November 25, flight KL878 from Bangkok to Amsterdam departed on schedule and landed at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol early on Wednesday morning.
Flight KL877, AMS – BKK – TPE, also departed from Schiphol on schedule. However, owing to the rapidly changing circumstances in Bangkok, it was decided that the flight should be diverted to Kuala Lumpur. Passengers have been accommodated in hotels in the Malaysian capital, and will resume their journey when circumstances permit.
KLM is closely monitoring the situation and doing everything in its power to minimize inconvenience to passengers.
