KLM carries relief goods to Sumatra
Amstelveen – 2009-10-10
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has deployed a Boeing 747 full freighter to carry Red Cross relief goods intended for Sumatra, Indonesia. The aircraft, carrying 85 tons of cargo, set off to Kuala Lumpur Saturday. From the Malaysian capital, the Red Cross will distribute the goods across the earthquake-stricken region in collaboration with the Indonesian airline Garuda. KLM President & CEO Peter Hartman offered help to the region last week Friday.
“If more freight capacity to the stricken region is required, we will see what we can do,” said Mr. Hartman.
